co:census (Seam Social Labs PBC) is a certified MWBE public benefit corporation specializing in community engagement, mixed-methods research, transportation equity, and civic technology. We serve government agencies, MPOs, and nonprofits across New York, California, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. We are a small, growing firm — and this fellowship is a deliberate investment in our next senior leader.
**This is a NYSERDA-funded fellowship. Eligible candidates must currently reside in New York State and commit to full-time work in NYS for 12 months.
📅 Projected start date of August or September 2026.
Fellow Responsibilities
- Support and then independently lead project management across co:census's active climate portfolio — transportation equity, climate resilience, energy and community engagement projects
- Support client relationships in coordination with the business line Principals
- Coordinate internal project check-ins, deliverable tracking, and subcontractor management
- Support proposal development — contributing to scoping, writing, and budget development — with the goal of managing a full proposal by month 12
- Contribute to organizational development: refining internal systems, workflows, and team coordination as co:census scales
- Produce a capstone deliverable in collaboration with the CEO
What co:census is looking for
- You have managed a project from kickoff to delivery — with a real client, a real budget, and real stakes
- You have held a client relationship independently, not just supported one
- You have supervised or mentored at least one junior colleague, formally or informally
- You can move at the pace of a client deliverable — not a municipal planning cycle
- You have a background in urban planning, public policy, transportation, community development, or a closely related field — graduate degree strongly preferred
- AICP certification or active pursuit is a strong plus
- Your mission alignment with the communities co:census serves is evident in your work history — not just your cover letter
